The short-story, is one of the most important literary subgenres in Urdu literature, despite its relative youth. This was influenced by western and literary concepts and tendencies, as well as the contemporary industrial and mechanized environment. In Tariq Chhatari's stories, life seems to be going through a new experience, on one hand there is a depiction of an elite family, on the other hand the naked reality of rural life is also clearly visible. In some of his stories, new and untouched terms have been coined in accordance with the environment and they do not seem unfamiliar in any way. The characters of his stories are in accordance with the structure and environment of the story and it seems that the storyteller is completely familiar with the character.
