The region of Cilicia was heavily populated in antiquity. In the fourth century AD, it underwent great changes as Christianity became the dominant religion. This guidebook describes four of the major religious sites of Cilicia, with details of this process of cultural transformation. Individual sections cover the major sites of Alahan (Hugh Elton), Diocaesarea (Uzuncaburc) (Detlev Wannagat), Elaiussa/Sebaste (Ayas) (Eugenia Equini Schneider), and Korykos (Kizkalesi) and Cennet ve Cehennem, written by archaeologists who have worked at these sites.
