Description

The most common type of blood cancer among all age groups, particularly among youngsters, is leukemia. It is an abnormal phenomenon caused by uncontrolled blood cell growth and proliferation, which can damage immune system function, bone marrow, and red blood cells. In India, where more than 60,000 new cases of cancer were reported in 2018, leukemia represents more than 3.5% of all new cancer cases. Before spreading to vital biological tissues, malignant white blood cells, or lymphoblast, go through the blood to other organs such as the spleen, brain, liver, and kidneys. (Hegde et al. 2019; Namayandeh et al. 2020)). Hematologists at cell transplant facilities can diagnose and differentiate between different types of leukemia based on microscopic images. If the slide is properly stained, some types of leukemia can be more easily identified and distinguished from one another, but further instruments are needed to determine the underlying leukemia. The stained slides for the most prevalent kinds of leukemia are shown in Figure 1.1 (Wolach et al. 2017).
