THE COVEN Zine was the early '90s Death Metal, Grindcore, Black Metal, and Doom Metal fanzine from Billy Nocera, the madman behind RAZORBACK RECORDS, EVILSPEAK MAGAZINE, and bands such as VAULTWRAITH, SURGIKILL, and many more, as well as the author of the book WASTE CITY: Splatterific & Sleazeotronic Movies. THE COVEN Zine Collection 1990 - 1992: Death Metal Days of a Horror-Worshiping Freak collects all 3 issues of this cult, underground fanzine that had documented a specific time in the older days of the Death Metal scene, right as the genre exploded into the mainstream and gave birth to the second wave of Black Metal at the same time. Through the eyes and ears (and foul mouth temperament!) of an obsessive and pissed off 14 to 16 year old teenager, THE COVEN is a rare look into the past of a scene and genre that was originally raw, messy, uglier, and defined by "cut and paste" publications printed in very low amounts and spread within "snail mail" letters and packages through a worldwide network that now mostly exists exclusively on the internet. Long before emails, podcasts, streaming, and social media, THE COVEN dwelled in an era where anything went and being offensive and crude was the name of the game!
