In this often painful, sometimes uplifting story, I recall and describe the moment my relationship with my son changed forever - the moment he revealed his mental illness to me - and the journey that followed. I allow the reader to accompany me as I learn about his of his first psychotic break, witness his terrifying accounts of frightening hallucinations, struggle to accept that life would never be the same, and commit to helping my son, no matter what. Through years of the up and downs that so many experience with a serious mental illness, we ultimately triumph, only to lose him in a random auto accident.
