L. R. Elliott's A Comparative Lexicon of New Testament Greek is one of the best books ever written for helping students of New Testament Greek to expand their Greek vocabulary and improve their ability to identify words without constant recourse to a lexicon. While there are newer books following a similar approach, Elliott's book is far and away the simplest and easiest to use. The plan is simple. Bringing together in one column all the New Testament words built on the same root or stem. Opposite each Greek word give briefly the English meaning. The similarity of form and meaning all brought together and seen in one view increases the student's progress in mastering vocabulary. The structural principles of Greek word formation are also more readily revealed.
