Description
Amazon Best Selling Author and Historical Fiction Series!
Can America survive the struggle to rebuild? Carrie and Robert's dream comes true, but is Carrie strong enough to survive what comes next? Rose's school comes under attack by vigilantes. No one could have predicted what happened next. Abby makes the choice to go to Kansas to fight for Woman Suffrage and almost pays the ultimate price. Violence and hatred run rampant through the country as America tries to come to grips with 2,000,000 freed slaves. So many of the characters you have come to know and love face both challenges and joys in this turbulent time in history. Volume # 9 of the Bregdan Chronicles continues the sweeping historical saga that now encompasses the second year of American Reconstruction. Review: This is really a review of my reflections on the series so far. I am 74, my wife is 73, and my mom is 97. We have all three been immersed in this series nonstop. We are all engaged in the characters and we are all engaged in learning history we were never taught or even read about before. The great writing, the strong women and men able to evolve from what they were brought up to believe, and the conversations bringing out the historical context make for a great read. Review: I have just finished reading #9 in the series and I am hungry for more. I am a huge fan of historical fiction, and I have loved every minute of reading these books. They are all filled with wonderful characters that I have gotten to know and love, and whose touching stories are woven together within the backdrop of these incredibly well-researched and historically accurate novels. The reading is not only informative but filled with excitement and frustration and sadness and joy -- touching every possible emotion -- at times bringing tears to my eyes, at times, making me feel ashamed to be an American, and at times making me feel so proud and happy to see the bravery and fortitude of those who fought such horrid injustices. I became so attached to all the characters who didn't just sit back and wait for something to happen, but who recognized the need for leadership and actively MADE things happen to improve a way of life for everyone. It's hard to believe that human nature could create such anger, intolerance, discrimination, and hatred in the development of the USA, but less hard to believe that good people with good hearts would not allow it to destroy our country. Ginny Dye is a great storyteller. I so look forward to #10 of the Bregdan Chronicles, and every one after that. Each book so far has been my favorite. Review: I have just finished book 9 of the Bregdan Chronicles, and can hardly wait for book 10. I read a tremendous number of books every year! I've read the first 9 books in just six days! I'm stopping long enough to write this review. Throughout the Bregdan Chronicles, I've learned, I've laughed, I've cried, I've been ashamed and horrified on so many levels of so many things that went on before, during and after the war as it related to life in America, and I've lived with these characters as they've dealt with slavery, the Civil War (from both sides), the pain, the losses, their fears, and most of all, the abiding hope and faith that these people have. Ginny Dye is an awesome writer and has done her research well. I've learned so much more about America from the 1850's, through the war years and all of the 1860's. This series is absolutely incredible! I cannot help but recommend it to everyone I know. One of my adult sons has begun the first book, and is already hooked. Thank you, Ginny Dye, for not only an incredible reading experience, but for giving me a much better and more honest understanding of my heritage as a Southern woman. Please continue this series for as long as you can!
