It has been almost a hundred years since the war began. The final defeat of the humans is looming, with only a few still putting up resistance. The vast and once peaceful forests of Laëndrom are now the realm of the naësari, a cruel and bloodthirsty people who live in the shadows to destroy and conquer.
In the midst of this conflict is Laryana, a young naësara who challenges the heritage of her people. An unusual alliance binds her to Derim and his sisters Aya and Saria, three humans who have lost home and family to Laryana's people. Together they search for allies in their hopeless struggle for peace and freedom. They soon learn that their greatest enemy is not only the naësari, but also Laryana's past - and a dark secret that could cost them more than just their lives.
