This book is very relevant now, even though the stories contained in it were written more than half a century ago: they tell about the painful everyday life of Ukrainian refugees in the United States, and also dive into the topic of war, in this case, the war in Korea, where the author, Bohdan Rubchak, a prominent poet, literary critic, professor of comparative literature at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and one of the founders of the New York Poets Group, was a fighter. This is the second edition of Rubchak's collected short stories published by Oleksandr Fraze-Frazenko and OFF Laboratory. It complements Rubchak's complete poetry collection, which was published by the same publishing house.
