Kalighat is a holy place. Although it is a great place of pilgrimage for Shaktas (worshippers of female goddesses of power, viz. Durga, Kali), people of all sects come here because of the presence of idols in Swayambhu Nakuleswara (Shiva) and Shyamarai (Krishna).
