The collection has been built up gradually since the construction of the Organization's Headquarters in Paris. All artistic media are represented: mosaics, sculptures, frescos, photographs, tapestries and paintings. Growing over the years thanks to the generosity of its Member States, UNESCO's collection today includes over 800 works. It remains the most important artistic heritage of the United Nations.
