Description
""A Libel On Dr. D...Ny, And A Certain Great Lord"" is a satirical pamphlet written by Jonathan Swift in 1730. The book is a scathing attack on Dr. D...Ny, a physician and politician, and a certain great lord, whose identity is not explicitly revealed but is widely believed to be Robert Walpole, the first Prime Minister of Great Britain. In the pamphlet, Swift accuses Dr. D...Ny of being a quack doctor who has made a fortune by exploiting the gullibility of his patients. He also accuses him of being a corrupt politician who has used his position to enrich himself at the expense of the public. The great lord, on the other hand, is portrayed as a greedy and power-hungry politician who is willing to do anything to maintain his hold on power. Swift's writing is characterized by his trademark wit and sarcasm, and his use of irony and satire to highlight the absurdity of the political and social issues of his time. The book was published anonymously, but its authorship was widely known, and it caused a great deal of controversy and outrage among its targets. Overall, ""A Libel On Dr. D...Ny, And A Certain Great Lord"" is a classic example of Swift's satirical style, and a biting critique of the corruption and hypocrisy of the political and social elites of 18th-century England. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
