Description
Osteoporosis is one of the most common chronic diseases affecting older people worldwide, with increasing incidence, enormous socioeconomic costs, and serious losses in quality of life. Despite available standard therapies, care remains inadequate in many cases: new fractures, under-treatment, and poor adherence to therapy are ongoing challenges. However, a paradigm shift is emerging in clinical and molecular biological research. This book is the first systematic and comprehensive presentation of the latest treatment methods for osteoporosis.
It discusses innovative active substances such as romosozumab, abaloparatide, and denosumab, explains the molecular basis of new target structures-such as sclerostin, RANKL, Wnt, and sirtuin signaling pathways-and classifies them within the current developments in personalized and regenerative medicine. In addition, digital approaches, systems medicine correlations, and preventive medicine models are examined in detail.
The focus is not only on pharmacological innovations, but also on the reality of care, individual risk assessment, gender-specific aspects, rare forms of the disease, and the integration of complementary methods.
Bremen University Press has published over 4,800 specialist books in various languages since 2005.
