The symposium was followed by a specialist workshop on 'Satellite meteorology and hydrology' with invited overview papers followed by contributed papers on themes of: Transpiration, hydrological modelling and energy balance, atmospheric gases and aerosols. These papers are also included in this volume. The book thus illustrates the progress in the use of the latest sources of space data for our better understanding of dynamic environmental processes over land, sea and in the atmosphere.
