GURRAC (Au Contraire) A modern Somali written novel with a story that sympolises the immense and unimaginable loss of sense of dignity and identity after a nation collapses under its own weight. It is not the collapses by itself that hurt but the countless Gurracs that thrive under such long misery and loss that refuse to end. This is where norms are confused, taboos and sanctifies are broken, and livelihoods are corrupted for the maximum survival of the fittest. Gurrac appears in many faces and characters, such as a politician, a dangerous womanizer, a businessman and a nonsense, a traumatized and lost youth, a teacher of all bad values and behaviors among ailing society, etc. Gurrac is simply a restless evil genius who takes no prisoners in his senseless rampage of planting worst of seeds among unsuspecting and countless victims in a land of no law and order.
