The IV Latin American Congress on Biomedical Engineering, CLAIB2007, corresponds to the triennial congress for the Regional Bioengineering Council for Latin America (CORAL), it is supported by the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE) and the Engineering in Medicine, Biology Society (IEEE-EMBS). This time the Venezuela Society of Bioengineering (SOVEB) organized the conference, with the slogan Bioengineering solution for Latin America health. The meeting was held in the Hesperia Hotel, located in Margarita Island, Venezuela, on September 26th-28th, 2007. A total of 381 papers were submitted for arbitration, and 317 were accepted.

El IV Congreso Latinoamericano de Ingeniera Biomdica, CLAIB2007, corresponde a la conferencia trianual del Consejo Regional de Ingeniera Biomdica para Amrica Latina (CORAL), y es apoyada por la Federacin Internacional para la Ingeniera Mdica y Biolgica (IFMBE) y, la Sociedad para la Ingeniera en Biologa y Medicina (IEEE-EMBS). En esta oportunidad la Sociedad Venezolana de Bioingeniera (SOVEB) organiz la conferencia, bajo el lema Soluciones de Bioingeniera para la salud en Latina. El evento se realiz en el Hotel Hesperia, localizado en la Isla de Margarita, Venezuela, 26 al 28 de Septiembre de 2007. Un total de 381 artculos fueron recibidos para ser arbitrados y 317 fueron aceptados.

Welcome to the IV Latin American Congress on Biomedical Engineering, CLAIB2007, Bioengineering solution for Latin America health. This event gathers Biomedical Engineering scientists from the Americas and other continents, presenting their latest research results. This Year CLAIB will take place on Venezuela's Margarita Island September 24th through 28th. Margarita is "The Pearl of the Caribbean", an ideal place to enjoy the tropical winds, famous beaches, and Venezuelan hospitality and food. Every third year, worlds and especially Latin-American bio-engineering experts gather at CLAIB to develop a shared - sion to advance human welfare, showing the products of their efforts and creativity. These multidisciplinary specialists form a synergistic team whose results contribute to the development of new technologies. This CLAIB follows the successful meetings held in Joao Pessoa (Brazil, 2004), Habana (Cuba, 2001) and Mazatl n (Mexico, 1998). CLAIB is sponsored primarily by the Regional Council of Biomedical Engineering for Latin America (CORAL), and the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE). We will make every effort to make CLAIB 2007 a memorable event and that each participant will contribute to a CLAIB full of good experiences and memories.
